The Philippine National Police welcomes new police officers as 18 successful candidates for CY 2017 Lateral Entry Program for Technical Officers formally took oath on March 9, 2018 in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Police Director Rene Aspera, Director of Directorate for Personnel and Records Management led the oath taking and donning of ranks of the officers who will fill-up vacancies in the technical service positions for priest, pastor, and legal officer of the PNP Chaplain Service and Legal Service.

PO2 Mel Bautista of Sampaloc Police Station received the "Medalya ng Kagalingan" for chasing a snatcher in Tondo, Manila while off-duty resulting to the arrest of the suspect last February 23, 2018. PO2 Bautista was with his family when the incident transpired.

A total of 398 police personnel were dismissed from the service, among them, 167 with drug-related offenses, over the past 26 months as the PNP continues to wage a top-to-bottom program of internal reform in the 180,000-strong organization.
Records culled by the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) showed those dismissed were among the 1,614 PNP personnel who were meted disciplinary penalties for involvement in administrative cases from 2016-2018 under the PNP Comprehensive Internal Disciplinary Mechanism.
Reiterating his uncompromising stand against misconduct and breach of discipline in the ranks, PNP Chief, Director General Ronald “Bato” M Dela Rosa ordered the dismissal of the 398 errant personnel for immediate implementation by the DPRM.
“As the father of the organization, my heart bleeds when I sign dismissal orders for delinquent policemen. It’s a tough decision, but it had to be done for the sake of the organization.” The Chief PNP said.
Among those dismissed, 151 were found positive for drug use while 16 more were involved in drug-related activities. Ninety-one (91) were dismissed for Absence Without Official Leave (AWOL); ten (10) for Kidnapping, 22 for Murder, three (3) for Rape; Six (6) for Homicide; two (2) for Parricide; and three (3) for Illegal Arrest/ Detention.
Twenty-three (23) more were dismissed for involvement in Robbery/Extortion; one (1) for Graft/ Malversation; and 70 others for Grave Misconduct that stemmed from Immorality, Dishonesty, Estafa, and violation of BP22.
Aside from those dismissed, 1,216 other personnel were meted disciplinary penalties in 2016-2018 ranging from Demotion, Suspension, Reprimand, Restriction, and Salary Forfeiture.
Since 2016, there were 14,515 administrative cases investigated, wherein, 8,422 cases were resolved. At present, there are 6,093 administrative cases pending resolution.

The PNP Chaplain Service headed by its Director, PSSupt Rev Fr Jason D Ortizo and PSupt Rev Fr Ronie B Arong, Catholic Base Chaplain, organized the “Kasalang Bayan 2018 annual mass wedding as part of the celebration of the 27th PNP Founding Anniversary, wherein PNP personnel are given free wedding complete with reception.

MOST REV. OSCAR JAIME LLANETA FLORENCIO, DD, Apostolic Administrator of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines solemnized the mass wedding co-celebrated with the Catholic Chaplains of the PNP-CHS this morning at 8:00 AM at the St Joseph Chapel, Camp Crame, Quezon City.
According to the Fr Ortizo, a police officer should not only be effective and efficient in maintaining peace and order in our police stations but should also be responsible, God-fearing and a loving husband or wife and father or mother to his/her children and this is the essence of this Mass Wedding to celebrate love for our family which is the inspiration of every individual not only to work but most importantly to live with meaning guided by God.
“Dapat maipadama natin sa ating mga personnel na mahalaga sa atin ang kalagayan ng kanilang pamilya kaya ginawan natin ng mga programa na nagpapakita na may malasakit tayo sa pamilya ng ating mga personnel tulad nitong Mass Wedding”, Fr. Ortizo said.
Two hundred ninety-five (295) licensed professionals took oath today, February 19, as new Police Commissioned Officers of the Philippine National Police.
PNP Chief, Director General Ronald “Bato” M Dela Rosa, formally administered the Oath of Office to the new Police Commissioned Officers after the regular Monday Flag Raising Ceremony in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Police Director Rene Aspera, Director for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) said the 295 licensed professionals were commissioned into the PNP Officer Corps under the 2017 Lateral Entry program to fill-up requirements for more Technical Service Officers in National Support Units.
Among the newly-inducted Police Commissioned Officers were 27 lawyers and five (5) medical doctors. They were appointed to the initial rank of Police Senior Inspector with a basic monthly salary of P56,582.00 and subsistence allowance, clothing allowance, quarters allowance, hazard pay, cost of living allowance, and additional compensation.
Appointed to the initial rank of Police Inspector were, 13 dentists, two psychologists, 24 forensic chemists, 85 nurses, 11 civil engineers, three electrical engineers, two architects, 22 Information Technology Officers, and 18 Communication and Electronics Officers. They will receive a basic monthly salary of P49,528.00 with other allowances and fringe benefits.
Aspera said the new police commissioned officers will be assigned to the Police Regional Offices, National Operational Support Units at Camp Crame, and other Technical Services of the PNP.
He also said the newly-appointed PNP officers will undergo the mandatory Officers' Basic Course and Field Training Program before reporting to their respective assignments.
PDIR Aspera explained the PNP was authorized by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) to appoint new Police Commissioned Officers from the ranks of Police Non-Commissioned Officers (234), Non-Uniformed Personnel (12), and Civilians (49) under the 2017 Lateral Entry Program.

Flag Raising Ceremony and Awarding Ceremony for the Winners of the Search for 2017 Model PNP Families
The Philippine National Police (PNP) awarded on February 12, the five (5) winners of PNP Model Families 2017 during the regular Monday Flag Raising Ceremony at the National Headquarters, Camp Crame, Quezon City.
The Search for 2017 PNP Model Family was organized by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), PNP, and other stakeholders to exemplify the police image as a leader and partner in keeping peaceful and well-secured communities.
NAPOLCOM Commissioner and Executive Officer, Atty. Rogelio Casurao said the search for model families was started since 2011. He added the Search Committee is composed of members from the Foundation for Crime Prevention, Inc. (FCP), Crusade Against Violence (CAV), DILG, and PNP-DPCR.
The 2017 Most Outstanding Model PNP Family is PInsp Danielo P Jacosalem and PSInsp Rowena Jacosalem and Family from Compostela Valley Police Station who showcased generosity and charitable work in the community. PSInsp Jacosalem, a Women and Children Protection Desk office, was also featured in “Wish Ko Lang aired in March 2017 for her invaluable service to the people of Compostela Valley. Jacosalem Family received Php 150,000 and a Plaque of Recognition from the search committee.
Meanwhile, SPO4 Dennis A Juan and Family is the 1st runner up model family from Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office, PRO1 for their significant contribution to the community and police service. Juan Family’s initiative, the “Lingap Pasasalamat” project, has been helping less fortunate children since 1998 that pushes positive impact to the lives of many residents in the community. Juan Family received Php 120,000 and a Plaque of Recognition.
Moreover, the 2nd runner-up goes to PSInsp Marvin C Cajegas and Family from Iligan City Police Station 4, PRO 10. Cajegas Family has been actively engaged in church ministry and in various outreach programs in jails and barangay. They received Php 100,000 and a Plaque of Recognition.
SPO3 Edgardo A Figuracion II and Family from Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Health Service, PRO 9 is the 3rd runner up, who actively participate in barangay and church-sponsored medical missions as volunteers.
For the the 4th runner up, the award has been given to PInsp Annie A Decano and Family from Palauig Municipal Police Station, PRO 3, who regularly lead in the feeding and gift-giving programs for the poor families in their barangay.
“The annual nationwide search primarily aims to highlight the image of the police as a family-based institution and emphasizes the importance of strong family ties in the overall performance of the police a law enforcer,” Casurao said.
